HOMEWORLD: CHORODEMOS

A strange and xenophobic people, the Chorodemarii are a cousin race of the nomadic Elan, and are generally regarded as the most graceful and elegant of all humanoids. They are generally tall, with milk-white skin, black eyes, pointed ears, and thick manes of bright red hair – something of a badge of honor for them, they rarely get it cut. Their bones and muscles tend to be denser than those of Terrans or Nebulans, aiding in their reputation for slender bodies with immense strength. Ages of conflict within and without have allowed the Chorodemarii to develop large hooked claws on their largest toe, supplementing their notoriously hard and sharp nails. Dark native environments have also given these people an extra nictitating eyelid, gold in color, which protects their sensitive eyes in brighter settings. On the whole, they are a very resilient people.

Elan and ChorodemariiChorodemarii society is a harsh one. They live in reclusive groups – in their own isolated settlements when possible – and are often hostile to outsiders. All Chorodemarii observe strict codes of etiquette, and often hold outsiders to them regardless of their knowledge of this. Their natural hostility is often seen as bitterness, which combined with the strictness of their society and intense features, has spawned the slur Chorodemon. To call a Chorodemarii this has been known to invite serious injury or death. Yet they are not an inherently violent people, and despite a general dislike of others are known for their courtesy to those who are respectful.

Chorodemarii supposedly hail from Chorodemos, somewhere to galactic west, but such a world has never been found. This may be in part due to that, in legend, Chorodemos suffered a cataclysmic event that shattered it. Oral tales blame the dragons of the pre-Unification period, and animosity between the two races continues to this day – not surprisingly, as Chorodemarii are one of the few species that can defeat dragons in single combat thanks to their speed, agility, and fearsome claws.

One of the largest present Chorodemarii settlements is on Nimbus, though that environment is considered rather harsh by most other forms of humanoid life. While considered a species loosely under Terra Nova jurisdiction, they hold no personal allegiance to any empire.
